 About Australia General Skilled Migration Program

Australia General Skilled Migration Program was designed to target migrants with experience in areas in which there is a skill shortage in the Australian labour market. The General Skilled Migration Program replaced all other Australian skilled worker visas issued in 2012-2013.

​

The program has several visa subclasses; applicants must nominate an occupation from the skilled occupation lists published by the Department of Home Affairs – Department of Border and Immigration Protection. Afterwards, the applicant must meet the basic requirements for general skilled migration.

​

Australia General Skilled Migration is a point-based program; after nominating the desired occupation, the applicant must pass the Australian immigration points test by scoring at least 65 points to qualify for a visa in order to move to Australia (using Australian immigration point’s calculator). The highest scoring candidates are selected and granted admission, the right to migrate to Australia and land there with their spouse and dependent children.

Australia General Skilled Migration Program Requirements

There are a number of requirements that should be met in order to qualify for Australia General Skilled Migration Program. The applicant must:

• Be between 20-44 years old.

• Nominate an occupation listed in The Department of Home Affairs– Department of Border and Immigration Protection skilled occupation lists.

• Collect a minimum of 65 points according to Australian immigration points calculator.

• Meet language requirement (score 6/9 in IELTS or an equivalent score in other approved exams).

• Meet the character requirements.

• Meet the health requirements.

• Skills Assessment application fees: $500 - 1,000 AUD

• Processing fees:

  • Main applicant: $3,755 AUD

  • Dependents above 18 years: $1,875 AUD

  • Dependents below 18 years: $940 AUD
